Topic: How to be a singer of your own work

It’s not “spoken word.” It’s not “slam.” It’s your heart. Out loud. Whether you are reading one poem to a friend, or putting together a longer set for an audience, there are ways to make sure everyone hears the essence of your work -- to make your poems come to life off the page once you’ve polished them on the page. I'll share some ideas about the use of music, body language, and the ways of some poets.....

Bring 17 or more copies (2 page limit) of a poem you want critiqued.*$5 - $10 donation appreciated.

This project has been partially supported by grants from Poets & Writers and the Illinois Arts Council.
