Mary Ruefle & Jenny Boully Reading


The Spring 2014 Reading Series, sponsored by The Department of Creative Writing at Columbia College Chicago, presents Mary Ruefle and Jenny Boully.

MARY RUEFLE's latest book is Trances of the Blast (Wave Books, 2013). Her collection of essays on poetry, Madness, Rack, and Honey, was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; her Selected Poems won the 2011 William Carlos Williams Award from the Poetry Society of America. In addition to poetry, she has published a book of prose, The Most of It (Wave Books, 2008), and a book of erasure, A Little White Shadow (Wave Books, 2006).

JENNY BOULLY is the author of five books, most recently of the mismatched teacups, of the single-serving spoon: a book of failures (Coconut Books, 2013). Her other books include not merely because of the unknown that was stalking toward them (Tarpaulin Sky Press, 2011), The Book of Beginnings and Endings (Sarabande Books, 2007), [one love affair]* (Tarpaulin Sky Press, 2006), and The Body: An Essay (Essay Press, 2007).

Chad Sweeney & Peter Davis Reading

CHAD SWEENEY is the author of four books of poetry, most recently Parable of Hide and Seek (Alice James Books, 2010) and Wolf’s Milk: Lost Notebooks of Juan Sweeney (Forklift Books, bilingual Spanish/English, 2012), and two books of translation, The Art of Stepping Through Time: Selected Poems of H.E. Sayeh (White Pine Books, 2011, with Mojdeh Marashi) and Pablo Neruda’s The Call to Destroy Nixon (Marick Press, forthcoming).

PETER DAVIS is the author of three books of poetry, Hitler's Mustache (Barnwood Press, 2006), Poetry! Poetry! Poetry! (Bloof Books, 2010) and TINA (Bloof Books, 2013). His poems have appeared in the Best American Poetry series as well as many journals like Court Green, Jacket, and La Petite Zine.

Last Sunday of the Month Reading

On Sunday, July 26, Brewed Poets Society will present Last Sunday of the Month Readings at Brewed Awakening, 19 W Quincy, Westmont. Lots of open mic.

Cover charge $5, includes coffee or tea and pastry. Noon till 12:30; Poetry 12:30-2:00 p.m.
